Godswill is a legal scholar specializing in Energy Justice, Environmental Law, and Sustainable Development, with a focus on the Global South. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Essex, UK, where his research explored energy justice as a strategy for inclusive energy policies. In 2019, he was a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Houston Law Center, USA, deepening his expertise in global energy governance.
Alongside academia, he has advised government institutions in sub-Saharan Africa on energy policy, regulatory frameworks, and sustainable development. A qualified Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria since 2011, he previously served as Research Assistant to the Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice, Edo State, contributing to policy reform and legal strategy.
His academic background includes an LLM in Oil and Gas Law (University of Aberdeen, 2014) and an LLB (Madonna University, 2010). He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and Associate Editor of the Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy.
